Winnipeg Police Service Guns & Gangs Unit seized more than $1 million in illegal drugs during an investigation into a drug trafficker that began in November 2022.
According to investigators officers executed a search warrant on a residence in the 500 block of St. Anne’s Road on February 10, 2023. A 39-year-old male and a 38-year-old female were arrested.
During the search, officers found 2,67 kilograms of fentanyl with about $1,068,000, 259 grams of cocaine worth about $25,900, 277 grams of meth with a street value of $27,700, $30,000 in cash, score sheets, scales, packaging materials, a vacuum sealer, an undisclosed amount of counterfeit Canadian currency along with tools to make it and two pellet guns.
The unnamed 39-year-old man was charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 3
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of Counterfeit Money
- Making Counterfeit Money
Police say that the man is not being named at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. He was detained in custody.
The 38-year-old female was charged for her alleged involvement with:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Possession of Counterfeit Money
- Making Counterfeit Money
The female suspect was released on an undertaking as mandated by the criminal code.
