Two people are in custody after Winnipeg Police found what they describe as “improvised firing devices”
On Friday, August 25, 2017, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a medical call at a home in the 100 block of Thomas Berry Street in St. Boniface.
The medical responders noticed a number of firearms inside the residence and called police. When officers arrived they located and seized three weapons and ammunition as well as six bicycles.
The weapons had been made out of a cane and broom stick handles and fashioned into “bang stick” style firearms. The other weapon seems to be to have been made from parts of an airsoft rifle. Officers say that one of the weapons, the white “bang stick”, was loaded with a .22 calibre round ready to be fired. The “cane” had a spent .420 calibre round inside.
