POLICE SEIZE HANDMADE ‘ZIP GUN’

 

 

“Gun”  loaded with shotgun shell

 

 

 

 

 

Just before noon on Friday June 30, 2017 Officers with the Street Crime Unit noticed a stolen vehicle in the area of Euclid Avenue and Main Street.
They followed the vehicle to Selkirk and McGregor Street  where, with the help of Tactical Support officers, they stopped the vehicle.
The three people in the vehicle were removed and arrested. When police searched the vehicle they found a loaded handmade firearm, commonly referred to as a “ZIP GUN”, that was capable of firing a .410 shotgun shell.
The male driver, 28, was charged with a number of firearms and driving related offences as well as possessing property obtained by crime .
The 18 and 19 year olde females were charged with firearms offences and possessing property obtained by crime.
The 19 year old female was released on a promise to appear while the other two were remanded in custody.
