POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN CHILD ABDUCTION ATTEMPT

26 year old male sought

As News4 told you last week a man attempted to abduct a 4 year old child that was walking with her mother in the 300 block of McKenzie Street.
It happened around 2:45 in the afternoon of June 29, 2017.
As the man grabbed the girl the mother fought the man and was able to free her daughter. The man ran off. The girl did not suffer any physical injuries.
Police investigators have now identified a suspect in the case and are asking the publics help in locating him.
26 year old Ruben Kyle Mawakeesick from Winnipeg is described as Indigenous, 5’6″ in height, approximately 147 lbs., with a medium build.

A warrant for his arrest has been issued for Abduction of Person Under Fourteen Years of Age, Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Assault Cause Bodily Harm and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

 

UPDATE –  Just after 10:00 pm Sunday July 2, 2017 police located and arrested  Mawakeesick.
