The search began Friday, September 28, 2018, after the two children were allegedly abducted by their mother.

Police say that the children were dropped off to school on September 26, 2018, and were scheduled to spend two nights with their mother. When the father went to the school on Friday to pick up the kids he was told that they were not there and had not been in school that day or the day before.

A Canada-wide warrant for abduction had been issued for Jessica Chartier, 29.

Police were looking for her 2016 Chrysler 200 after the trio were seen in Virden Manitoba on Monday evening, October 1, 2018.

RCMP reported late Tuesday afternoon, October 2, 2018, that Melaina and Colton were safely located in St. Albert, Alberta.

Jessica Chartier has been placed under arrest and will be facing abduction charges for her alleged involvement.
