Winnipeg Police are actively involved in what can be described as an armed & barricaded  situation at a home in the 600 block of Cathedral Avenue in the city’s north end.

“We received some information with respect to concerns regarding an individual or individuals at that location with the potential of it being a volatile situation.” said Const. Jason Michalyshen, WPS Public Information Officer.

Police were called to the area around 8:30 Wednesday morning and are using the tactical armoured response vehicle ARV-1 to shield officers as people from the residence exit the home.

So far five people have come out of the house and been placed in custody.

Around 11:30am police reopened Cathedral Avenue but have released no other information regarding the incident at this time.
