Police respond to weapons call at Fort Richmond Collegiate

Winnipeg police are continuing to investigate after officers responded in force to Fort Richmond Collegiate on Thursday afternoon, January 19, 2023, after receiving a report that there was an individual with a weapon that could be a possible firearm.

Multiple general patrol and Tactical Support Team officers responded to the school around 1:30 pm and placed it and nearby schools into hold and secure as they searched the area and investigated the incident.

Officers located a teenage male in the area and placed him in custody.

In an email to News 4, police said that an airsoft gun was seized and no injuries were reported.

About an hour and 15 minutes after the incident began the hold and secure was lifted and officers left the scene.
