Police respond to Redwood Avenue home invasion

Winnipeg police are investigating after a family was terrorized by several people breaking into their home armed with crowbars early Saturday morning.

Around 1:00 am on Saturday, May 7, 2022, general patrol and tactical support team officers responded to the report of a break-in in progress on Redwood Avenue just west of Arlington Street.

When officers arrived they found a male suffering wounds to the head. Police provided emergency medical care until paramedics arrived. The injured male was transported to hospital in stable condition.

A family member told News 4 that there were several people in the home, including a baby, when the break-in occurred. They said the that the incident was very dramatic and that at least one of the invaders was brandishing a crowbar.

Officers search the surrounding area and one person was taken into custody and taken away in a patrol unit.
