Firearm and drugs charges were laid following a dispute between two men in an Arlington Street bar early Saturday morning, March 2, 2024.
Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report that several people believed to be in possession of firearms were engaged in a dispute.
As officers arrived on the scene they saw two men believed to have ben involved in the incident flee on foot. One of the suspects was arrested following a foot pursuit but the other continued to flee.
With the help of Air1 the second suspect was located in a yard in the 900 block of Pacific Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident.
Police say, two firearms were recovered during the arrests, one near each of the suspects at the time of their arrests. Both weapons were Glock handguns and both were loaded.
Neither firearm had been discharged during the incident.
Officers also found 35 grams of Cocaine, $1,500 in cash and cell phones on one of the suspects at the time of his arrest.
A 32-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges for his alleged involvement:
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
A 29- year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges for his alleged involvement:
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
Both suspects were detained in custody.
