POLICE RELEASE DETAILS OF AN ASSAULT ON A TRANSIT DRIVER IN LATE MAY

Winnipeg Police today released information about an assault on a Winnipeg Transit driver that happened on May 24, 2017.

At around 1:00 pm a black male in his 20s boarded a Winnipeg Transit bus near St. Vital mall. The suspect refused to pay his fare and argued with the driver. He got off the bus downtown.

A little while later the driver saw the same male waiting at a bus stop at Ellice Avenue and SImce Street. As the driver stopped the bus the suspect threw a large piece of concrete striking the driver in the head. The suspect then took off.

The driver was not seriously injured in the assault

Police are looking for a black male in his 20s to early 30s. He is about 5’10” tall weighing about 145 pounds. He had braided black hair.

Anyone with information that can help identify the suspect is asked to contact police.
