Firearms, ATV and stolen property recovered after break-in

Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) has recovered a number of items stolen during a break-in on Saturday, October 27, 2018.

Police say that just after 3:00 pm they received a report of a break and enter in the Westlake-Gladstone area about 150 kilometres west of Winnipeg. Items that were stolen included firearms as well as an ATV.

The ATV had a GPS tracker onboard and officers were able to locate the vehicle very quickly. From the GPS log officers were able to see that the ATV made several stops at houses on the Sandy Bay First Nation. Police received reports as well that provided the names of the suspects and that confirmed the suspects were in possession of the ATV and firearms.

MFNPS officers located the stolen vehicle outside a residence in Sandy Bay and found the firearms and other stolen property inside.

Two suspects were inside the home as they were being taken into custody one of the men jumped out a window making his escape.

35-year old Reginald Daniel Richard has been charged for his alleged involvement with a number of property and firearm offences.

A warrant for the arrest of 30-year-old Vincent Nathan Richard was issued. He was arrested the next day by Portage La Prairie RCMP.
