Police raid leads to seizure of over $540,000.00 in illegal drugs

Two suspects are in custody and more than $540,000.00 in drugs were seized after the Winnipeg Police Service Organized Crime Unit raided a house and a storage locker.

Police say that on January 31, 2020, they executed two controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants. One on a home on Leisure Bay the other at a storage locker on Lowson Crescent.

Inside the home, officers found about $30,000.00 in cash, score sheets, scales and packaging materials, one ounce of Cocaine and one-half ounce of Meth.

The storage locker contained a kilogram of Fentanyl with a street value of $400,000.00, a kilo of Meth worth about $100,000.00. Officers also located about 20 ounces of Cocaine worth $40,000.00.

An adult female was arrested inside the home and an adult male was seen leaving the residence just before the raid and arrested shortly afterwards.

Stephen Kenneth Johnston, 37 from Winnipeg, has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – cocaine X2
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – methamphetamine X2
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order X3
  • Possession of a Weapon X2

Johnston was also wanted on a Warrant of Apprehension, Suspension, and Recommitment to Custody of Statutory Release. When arrested he was in possession of an APS Baton and a knife.
   
JENNIFER ASHLEY BERG, 28 from Winnipeg,  has been charged for her alleged involvement with:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – cocaine X2
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – methamphetamine X2
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order X4
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

Johnston and Berg were both detained in custody.
