Winnipeg man leads Brandon Police in pursuit

A 24-year-old Winnipeg man is facing charges after leading Brandon Police in a pursuit.

On Sunday afternoon, February 17, 2019, police in Brandon received a report that a suspended male driver was driving a vehicle southbound in the 300 block of 18th Street North.

Police headed to the area and when the driver saw them he took off leading police in a chase along McGregor Avenue, back on to 18th Street the east on Pacific Avenue and under the 18th Street Daley overpass.

At this point, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and came to a stop. Police arrested two males inside the vehicle.

During the pursuit, officers learned that the vehicle they were chasing had been stolen in Winnipeg.

The driver was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Flight while Pursued and Drive While Disqualified.

The passenger, a 28-year-old male from Rivers Manitoba, was found to have a folding knife in his possession which was contrary to his probation order. He was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
