Winnipeg Police have two people in custody after they allegedly stole a package off a front step in the Windsor Park area.
According to police, the female and male porch pirates were spotted on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, around 1:15 pmremoving a package that had been delivered to a home in the first 100 block of Fallbrook Bay before driving away.
The person who witnessed the theft contacted police and was able to provide a description of the suspects and vehicle.
Officers located the vehicle near Prince Rupert Avenue and Grey Street later in the afternoon and placed both suspects in custody. A number of unopened packages were found in the vehicle along with about three grams of what appeared to be meth.
Police were able to link the pair to several other package thefts in the Windsor Park and Niakawa Park area.
30-year-old Sage Albert William Talon Spirit Young from Little Bullhead, Manitoba, was charged for his alleged involvement with five counts of Theft Under $5,000, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order and Possess a Scheduled Substance (Methamphetamine).
Young was detained in custody.
The adult female from Lester Beach, Manitoba, is facing four counts of Theft Under $5,000 and Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 for her alleged involvement and released on an Appearance Notice.
Police say that the stolen packages were returned to their rightful owners.
