Police officers discover the remains of eight dogs in a freezer

While searching a vacant residence on Ross Avenue West after finding it insecure, Winnipeg Police Service officers made a grisly discovery on Friday, May 20, 2022.

The officers opened a freezer in side the building and found it full of garbage bags that contained the train’s of eight dogs.

Police learned that the house had been vacant for about six years and over that time a number of transient people had entered the building.

Police contacted Winnipeg’s Animal Services Agency which concluded that the dogs were three to four months old when they died. They had medium length fur, long snouts and long legs. Unfortunately due to decomposition the cause of death in undetermined.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-8477.
