A series of proactive traffic stops conducted by Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) officers between March 25th and 27th, 2025, resulted in the recovery of three stolen vehicles, the seizure of a weapon, thousands of dollars in cash, and a significant quantity of illicit drugs, according to a WPS media release.
Stolen Vehicles Recovered, Suspects Arrested
On March 26th, at approximately 6:45 p.m., West District officers located a stolen 2015 Ford F150 in the 100 block of Clarke Street. After a brief pursuit spanning Osborne Village and River Heights, the driver abandoned the vehicle in the sub 100 block of Harvard Street and was apprehended following a short foot chase. A 31-year-old Winnipeg woman was arrested and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited, Possession of a Weapon, and multiple breaches of release and probation orders. She remains in custody.
Later that same night, at 11:41 p.m., North District officers stopped a 2007 Saturn Aura with incorrect license plates at Salter Street and McGregor Avenue. The vehicle was determined to be stolen. A 63-year-old Winnipeg man was arrested and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and released on an Appearance Notice.
On March 27th, at approximately 12:05 p.m., Central District officers located a stolen 2021 Dodge Ram at a gas station on Isabel Street. The driver fled on foot but was apprehended by the Canine Unit. A 37-year-old Winnipeg woman was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 and Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking and released on an Appearance Notice.
Drug Trafficking Operations Disrupted
Central District officers also made a significant drug seizure on March 27th at approximately 12:20 a.m. During a traffic stop in the 600 block of Furby Street, officers discovered approximately $770 in cash and a large quantity of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $50,000. Two Winnipeg men, aged 37 and 49, were arrested and charged with Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. The 37-year-old was also charged with Possession of Proceeds of Crime. Both were released via Undertakings.
Another drug-related arrest occurred on March 27th at approximately 2:00 a.m. North District officers stopped a vehicle near Charles Street and Machray Avenue and seized over $3,500 in cash, multiple cell phones, approximately 8 grams of crack cocaine (estimated street value: $800), and packaging materials. A 31-year-old Mississauga, ON., man was charged with Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, and Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and remains in custody.
