Police nab bank robber in Waterfront Drive hotel

Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit have arrested and charged a 65-year-old man following an investigation into a bank robbery on Friday, February 2, 2024.

According to police the suspect walked into a financial institution in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West around 1:10 pm and gave a note to the teller that indicated he was armed and demanded money. Although no weapon was seen the robber received $10,000.00 in Canadian Currency before leaving the bank.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect and on Sunday, February4, 2024, a search warrant was executed at a Waterfront Drive hotel and the suspect was arrested without incident. A search of the room uncovered a portion of the stolen money.

The suspect was charged with Robbery for his alleged involvement.
