Police make two arrests in connection to Selkirk Avenue murder

Winnipeg Police have arrested two male suspects in connection to the killing of 23-year-old Nairne Marshall James Chapais on Thursday, May 21, 2020 on Selkirk Avenue.

Police say that the murder of Chapais was premeditated and gang-related.

Investigators believe the victim had been socializing in the area and was shot as he returned to the building he lived in. The building has been shot at three days earlier allegedly by one of the suspects.

Police located the suspects in a McDermot Avenue hotel on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, that prompted a large police presence as members of the Tactical Support Team placed them under arrest.

21-year-old Tyler Ryan Kenneth Jack has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm
  • Deal with Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (x6)

Clarence Raymon Scott, 30, has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Discharge a Firearm Into or At a Place in a Reckless Manner
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Possession of Scheduled Substance – Cocaine
