Police have arrested four people in connection to the killing of 27-year-old Peter Filip on November 11, 2023 while he was standing outside an Arlington Street vendor.
The incident happened around 2:00 am in the 1100 block. According to police, a group of males confronted the victim and assaulted him. The situation escalated and the victim was fatally stabbed. At one point during the assault a firearm was produced by one of the suspects and the victim was struck. All of the suspects fled on foot.
Shortly afterwards three male victims were approached by four of the suspects near Logan Avenue and Tecumseh Street. The suspects assaulted and robbed the victims. One of the victims aged 14 to 16 was injured in the upper-body and treated in hospital.
The four suspects then proceeded to the area of Salter Street and Burrows Avenue and requested a ride from a 28-year-old man. Once inside the victim’s vehicle a knife was brandished and the victim was physically assaulted. During the assault one of the victims tried to shot a firearm at the victim but it misfired. The victim was able to disarm one of the suspects and retake control of his vehicle. The victim then drove to police HQ for help. Although injured during the assault the victim did not require medical attention.
Police believe that six male youths were responsible for the incidents and between December 11 and December 20, 2023, two 14-year-old males, a 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old male were arrested and charged for their alleged involvement with Manslaughter. Two other male suspects aged 14 and 15 have yet to be arrested.
Police anticipate additional charges as the investigations continue into the subsequent assault and robberies.
