Male suspect arrested, Police looking to talk to victim of attempted carjacking

Around 10:00 pm on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, Winnipeg Police got a report of a commercial robbery in the 100 block of Salter Street.

A man entered the convenience store, threatened staff and stole several items. He left the store and a few minutes later returned to steal more items.

The suspect then tried to get into the store a third time but staff had locked the doors. Before leaving the suspect threatened the staff once more.

The suspect then approached a woman who was in her car and attempted to steal her vehicle. He was unable to get into the woman’s car and the victim left the area.

The suspect then went to a nearby gas bar and tried to get inside but the doors were locked. The suspect then broke a window and threatened staff. Staff at the gas bar were able to restrain the suspect and hold him for police.

Aaron Jay Ross, 25, was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement with two counts of Robbery, four counts of uttering threats and mischief under $5,000. Ross remains in custody.

Police are continuing to investigate the incidents and officers would like to speak to the victim of the attempted carjacking. Investigators from the Major Crimes Unit can be reached at 204, 986-6219.
