Police looking for information on two unsolved homicides

Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit investigators are looking for information about two unsolved homicides.

On August 13, 2022, 28-year-old Sydney Chubb suffered severe trauma to his upper body. He was found by police on the southeast sidewalk of the Osborne Street Bridge shortly after 5:30 am. Chubb was taken to hospital in critical condition but died from his injuries on August 21.

Investigators consider his death a homicide and are seeking help from the public. Anyone with information on Sydney’s whereabouts or contacts before the incident is asked to call (204) 986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at (204)786-8477.

Homicide investigators are also continuing to investigate the death of 30-year-old Anthony Gonzales who was assaulted on August 9, 2020, in the 1400 block of St. Matthews Avenue.

Police believe that several people witnessed the assault and still have valuable information that can help withthe investigation.
