Police looking for fifth suspect in serious assault

Four people have been arrested and a fifth is wanted in connection to a serious assault that took place near Salter Street and Magnus Avenue on July 16, 2021.

Police were called to the area around 2:45 am and found the 35-year-old male victim lying in the roadway unconscious. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition and suffered potentially life-altering injuries.

The investigation determined that two adults and a youth were spray-painting gang insignia on a business when the male victim confronted them. The trio began assaulting the man and was joined by an adult male and a male youth who also participated in the attack.

Police say the five suspects kicked and punched the victim until he was unconscious, then dragged him onto the roadway and continued the assault. The suspects then fled on foot.

Investigators have arrested 21-year-old Evan Brian Habing and 20-year-old Kevin Kashtin Worme along with two youth aged 14 and 15. All four have been charged for their alleged involvement with aggravated assault, mischief and firearms-related offences and detained in custody.
