Police issue public advisory after woman confronted in the Maples

Winnipeg Police have issued a public advisory about an incident that happened in the Maples on Friday, March 10, 2023.

According to police, a female in her 20s was walking near Mandalay Drive and Rolmount Road when she was approached by a male who was asking for directions.

During the encounter, the male pulled out a knife and began to speak to the victim in a sexually explicit way. As the victim pushed away to escape she received a minor cut injury from the knife.

Police say the suspect is Indigenous in appearance and was wearing dark clothing with a black surgical mask.

Anyone with information or who may have video surveillance footage in the area is asked to call the Sex Crime Unit at (204) 986-6245
