Winnipeg Police say that their members were involved in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday evening.
Just after 5:30 pm an incident at Lagimodière Boulevard and Fermor Avenue involving an SUV occurred. Several other vehicles were struck but police say they are not involved otherwise.
One person was shot by officers and taken to hospital. Their condition has not been released.
Several other people were taken into custody but police have released few details about the incident.
The Independent Investigation Unit has been notified and will be taking over the investigation related to the shooting.
The WPS Homicide Unit is investigating what led up to the shooting. Police noted that the homicide unit investigates all police-involved shooting incidents.
More details about the shooting is expected to be released on Thursday.
