Two Winnipeg Police officers were transported to hospital early Saturday morning, July 27, 2019 after the police cruiser they were travelling in collided with a pizza delivery car.
It happened around 1:30 am at the intersection of Pembina Highway and Dalhousie. Witnesses tell News 4 that the police cruiser was travelling northbound on Pembina Highway when the delivery vehicle allegedly darted in front of the police vehicle.
The impact of the collision destroyed the front end of the police patrol unit setting off the airbags. Both officers suffered undetermined injuries and were transported to hospital by paramedics.
The driver of the delivery car was not injured in the crash
At the time of the collision the traffic signals were flashing yellow for north and southbound Pembina and were flashing red for both directions of Dalhousie.
Both directions of Pembina Highway were closed until 4:00 am as towing crews and firefighters cleaned up the scene.
It was just two weeks ago on July 13, 2019 that another police patrol unit was involved in a serious crash at Aberdeen Avenue and Salter Street.
