Police investigating two suspicious incidents involving children

Winnipeg Police are looking into two incidents that happened this week that seem suspicious in nature.

Around 4:00 pm 0n Tuesday, November 3, 2020, a 12-year-old girl was walking home in south River Heights when a male driving a car approached her, stopped the car and tried to have a conversation with her. The girl ignored the male and walked past the car.

Police say that at this point the driver approached the girl a second time and asked her to get in the vehicle. The girl ran to a nearby adult who called police.

The vehicle was described as a newer white model car. The suspect was described as male 20 to 30 years old with short curly hair and a skinny build.

The second incident occurred two days later on Thursday November 5, around 4:00 pm in the Elmwood area of the city.

This incident is similar to the first. A 12-year-old girl was approached by a male in a white car. He asked her where she lived and if she would get in the car with him. The girl was able to make it to safety and police were called.

The vehicle was described as a white, 4-door car. The driver was described as a male with short brown hair 20 to 30 years old.

Police have not said if the incidents are linked but are advising parents to take additional precautions and suggest school-age children be accompanied by an adult while they investigate these incidents.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 204-986-3296 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8744.
