Police investigating two early morning shooting incidents

Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit is investigating two early morning firearm incidents that saw two men shot at in front of their residences.

At approximately 1:45 am on October 21, 2021, police say a man confronted a group of individuals who were around his vehicle on Poplar Avenue. There had been a number of vehicle break-ins recently. The situation escalated and during the verbal confrontation one of the people in the group pulled out a gun and shot the male resident. The suspects then fled in a vehicle.

Just over three hours later, around 5:00 am police say a male was shot at outside his residence.

The male victim had let his dog out and noticed a male getting out of a vehicle parked outside his building. The victim confronted the male and during the verbal altercation the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired a shot barely missing the victim. The victim went back into his residence and called the police.

It is not known if the two incidents are related.

Anyone with information that can help investigators is asked to call (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-8477.
