Police investigating Notre Dame Avenue shooting

UPDATED

Members of the Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit are investigating a shooting that happened overnight.

Around 12:30 am on December 13, 2020, officers came across a male in the eastbound lanes of Notre Dame Avenue just west of Arlington Street suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The male victim in his 40s was transported to the hospital and is in critical condition.

Two male suspects have been taken into custody but investigators did not know if the suspects had any connection to the victim prior to the shooting. No charges have been laid at this time.

Notre Dame was closed in both directions between Arlington Street and Alverstone Street as officers waited for members of the Forensic Unit to process the scene. Officers also put up yellow police tape around the 7-Eleven parking lot as part of the investigation.
