RCMP is investigating after a young female was found dead on Highway 15 east of Dougald early Thursday morning, September 28, 2023.
According to police a 31-year-old male was driving eastbound on the highway around 1:50 am when his pickup truck collided with an object on the highway. The driver turned around and discovered the object was a person. He called 911 then provided medical assistance until paramedics arrived.
The female believed to be in her mid teens had significant injuries but police believe that it is possible the injuries may not be related to the collision. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy has been ordered to confirm the cause of death.
The victim is described as 5’6” in height, with short black hair, 14-15 years of age and weighing approximately 100 lbs. She was wearing light grey colored sweat pants, a dark grey sweater and black runners.
