Police investigating an incident on a city bus Sunday

Winnipeg Police are investigating an early Sunday morning incident that brought a number of patrol units and emergency medical crews to the aid of Winnipeg Transit.

In an email to News 4, Winnipeg Police Service public information officer Jay Murray said police were called to the area of Dufferin Avenue and Andrews Street around 1:10 am June 7, 2020, for the report of an assault on a bus.

When officers arrived they found the injured male passenger. Paramedics transported the male to hospital in unstable condition but he has now been upgraded to stable. A medical supervisor and police were seen following the ambulance to the hospital.

A number of officers remained on the scene as police talked to the driver of the bus.

Police are trying to determine the nature of the incident as the injured male is not cooperating with officers.

“It is unclear at this time if this was an assault or a medical incident,” said Murray.

Police say that there are no suspects at this time.

The investigation continues.
