Brandon Police Service are investigating the assault of an inmate at Brandon Correctional Centre.
Police say they were called to the provincial correctional facility on Saturday, February 20, 2021, after the male inmate had been physically assaulted by several other male inmates. Police say the victim was beaten with various objects including furniture, punched and kicked.
The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to Brandon Regional Health Centre.
Investigators from the BPS Major Crime Section and Forensic Identification Section are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police say more information may be released in the coming days.
