An SUV and a pickup were severely damaged during the collision that also took out a traffic light standard. Debris from the impact was covering the intersection.

Two males in the SUV were taken to the hospital in critical condition but later upgraded to stable. The male driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Witnesses tell News 4 that a vehicle matching the description of the SUV involved in the crash was seen travelling at an extremely high rate of speed a few blocks before the collision and that police may have been chasing the vehicle.

Police confirmed that the vehicle had been pursued but that the pursuit, which began twenty minutes earlier on Powers Street and Selkirk Avenue, was aborted and that Air-1 was tracking the vehicle from above. Police had initially responded to the area near Powers Street and found a female lying in the street and a male in an SUV fleeing the area. Police say that stopping techniques were deployed during the pursuit at McKenzie Street and again at McPhillips Street and Kingsbury Avenue.
