Winnipeg Police are investigating the death of a 51-year-old man following an altercation outside a Portage Avenue restaurant on January 24, 2024.
According to police officers were called to the 3100 block of Portage Avenue around 5:30 pm for the report of a physical altercation between two men. As officers arrived on the scene they found one man in need of medical attention. He was taken to hospital in critical condition but died shortly afterwards.
Police have identified the man as Kyriakos Vogiatzakis, owner of the Cork and Flame where the altercation took place.
Officers took a male suspect into custody who was located in the area of the incident.
An autopsy is pending as the investigation continues.
Charges have yet to be laid in the case.
