Winnipeg Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred on Sunday evening in the downtown area.
At approximately 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a distress call on the 700 block of Simcoe Street. Upon arrival, they found a 36-year-old man outside an apartment building suffering from stab wounds to his upper body.
The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition but has since been upgraded to stable.
Initial investigations revealed the victim was walking along Simcoe Street when he was approached by two unknown women who asked for a cigarette.
As the victim attempted to comply, three unknown men emerged from an apartment building and forcibly dragged him inside.
Inside the building, the victim was robbed, assaulted, and stabbed. Despite his injuries, he managed to escape and contact police.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
