Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting that happened across the street from police headquarters this morning.
Police say that around 1:10 am September 12, 2019, a police member was leaving HQ when he heard a gunshot north of where he was. Police determined that a shooting had occurred behind the former St. Regis Hotel on Smith Street.
Evidence at the scene indicated shots had been fired and someone had been injured. Investigators also found evidence that a building attached to the headquarters was also hit during the incident.
About 30 minutes a male in his 20s showed up at a Winnipeg hospital with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his upper-body.
