On November 3, 2024, at approximately 2:06 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a carjacking at the intersection of Sherbrook Street and Ross Avenue. Central District General Patrol officers found a 39-year-old male victim suffering from the effects of bear spray.
The investigation revealed that the victim was waiting for a friend near the intersection when his driver’s side door was suddenly opened. He was sprayed with bear spray, forcefully pulled from his vehicle, and run over as the suspect fled in the stolen vehicle. The victim’s dog was also pulled from the car. Emergency medical services treated the victim at the scene for minor injuries, and he was medically cleared.
The stolen vehicle was later found unoccupied in the 400 block of Edmonton Street. Due to the sudden nature of the attack, the victim could not provide a description of the suspect(s). However, a witness described the suspect as a male, approximately 5’8” in height.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and is working to obtain a more detailed description of the suspect(s). No arrests have been made so far.
