Police identify the remains located in South Point Douglas in April

Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit has identified the remains of a female found along the Red River in South Point Douglas on April 15, 2023.

At the time of the discovery police said that they had discovered partial female remains but did not know the identity of the victim.

Over the course of the investigation, officers were able to use forensic verification to identify the victim as 40-year-old June Christine Johnson.

Police say that Johnson was last seen in the downtown area of Winnipeg in February 2023. Police say she frequented the downtown area and are looking for any information about her whereabouts or the people she interacted with between February and April.
