Police Identify Suspect in Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation Murder

UPDATED STORY

On Thursday, June 8, 2023, RCMP reported that Shawn Spence has been arrested.

The RCMP Major Crime Services unit has identified a 26-year-old suspect in the killing of a 39-year-old man outside a home on Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

A warrant has been issued for Shawn Owen Spence from Sandy Bay First Nation. Spence is want for First Degree Murder, Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited and Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession in Unauthorized.

RCMP are actively searching for the suspect.

Police say that Spence should not be approached as he is considered armed and dangerous. Spence lives on Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation and is known to frequent Ebb and Flow First Nation.

Spence stands 6’3″ tall, is 180 lbs with brown hair and eyes. He has a tattoo of the Pittsburgh Penguins logo on the left side of his neck.
