Winnipeg Police Service investigators have identified partial remains found on the bak of the Red River on August 7, 2020.

Investigators have determined that the remains belong to 42-year-old Wayne Leslie Melnychuk.

Police believe that Melnychuk had gone into the river by his own choice sometime around April 12, 2020.

Melnychuk was the the subject of a Canada-wide warrant for manslaughter in connection to the death of 34-year-old Julie Racette on April 11, 2020.
