Police give chase to a stolen vehicle, three people arrested

Winnipeg Police Service officers spotted a stolen vehicle on December 7, 2023, near Portage Avenue and Main Street. As officers followed the driver of the stolen GMC Envoy attempted to evade capture by driving erratically along Portage Avenue.

Air 1 was called in to help contain the fleeing vehicle. As the SUV reached Colony Street it turned northbound into oncoming traffic. The vehicle eventually came to a stop on pacific Avenue after it collided with a non-involved vehicle and narrowly missing a pedestrian.

Air 1 guided officers as the driver and two passengers fled the area. They were soon captured near a home on Alexander Avenue.

The three suspects were arrested and charged with multiple offences including:

Gerry Alvin Rodgers, 29, of Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
  • Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
  • Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited by Order Under Criminal Code
  • Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident
  • Break & Enter with Intent

Chastity Amber Moar, 22, of Winnipeg has been charged for her alleged involvement with:

  • Break Enter and Commit – Dwelling House

Rodgers and moar were detained in custody

A 26 year-old-male has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Break Enter and Commit – Dwelling House
  • Possession of Break In Instruments

The unnamed 26-year-old was released on an undertaking.
