Winnipeg Police Service, Professional Standards Unit has completed an investigation into the actions of an RCMP officer.

In April 2014, a 31 year old male RCMP officer while acting in his official capacity met an underage female. He pursued an intimate relationship with the underage female until approximately August 2014.

An investigation was begun once the RCMP brought to the attention of the WPS the nature of the relationship.   

The WPS conducted a detailed investigation and in consultation with Manitoba Justice  has laid a charge of Sexual Exploitation against the officer who turned himself into police on September 6, 2016. He was released on a promise to appear in October 2016.
   
The officer was a member of the RCMP for six years, he resigned in May of 2016.
   
The name of the accused will not be made public to ensure that the identity of the victim involved is protected.
