Manitoba First Nations Police Service officers have arrested and charged two people after they found drugs in a vehicle during a traffic stop.
Police say a vehicle was pulled over on Waywayseecappo First Nation on Tuesday May 26, 2020, around 11:00 pm.
As police were speaking to the three occupants of the vehicle they noticed unmarked cigarettes in plain view in the front seat. Officers searched the vehicle and found alcohol, a backpack that contained needles, two cell phones, $947.95 in cash and two baggies with what is believed to be Methamphetamine.
The 33-year-old driver was arrested and charged for her alleged involvement with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine
- Fail to Comply with Undertaking x 2
- Being the driver of a vehicle without holding a valid driver’s license
- As a driver, Carry Liquor in a Vehicle, contrary to the Liquor and GamingControl Act.
A 38-year-old male passenger was also arrested and charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine
- Fail to Comply with Undertaking x 2
- Possession of fewer than 25 units of Unmarked Tobacco contrary to the Tobacco Tax Act
A female passenger was released without any charges being laid.
The two suspects were detained in custody.
Police say that this is the second time within the past two weeks that both these suspects had been arrested.
