Winnipeg Police Service had a large presence in Point Douglas on Friday evening, July 12, 2024, as officers prepared for and executed a warrant in the neighbourhood.

Officers began staging earlier in the evening for the operation at a nearby parking lot. Investigators, Tactical Support Team (TST), General Patrol officers and paramedics soon made their way to a multi-unit building on Lorne Avenue.
Police used a drone to watch over the scene as other officers closed the road to traffic. Approximately twenty minutes after arriving police flew a small drone into the residence followed shortly by Tactical Support Team members entering the home.

It didn’t take long before the TST members exited the structure and investigators entered.
It is not known what/who the police were searching for however officers on the scene said the operation was part of an ongoing investigation. One person was taken into custody shortly after officers arrived.
More information as it becomes available.
