Police end crime spree, charge suspect with dozens of offences

A 23-year-old woman is in custody following a months-long investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service Property Crimes Unit into a crime spree.

Between October 2023 and February 2024 police were investigating a number of break-ins and thefts. During that time a number of vehicles and garages were broken into, eight vehicles were stolen and recovered. Two additional vehicles had their ignitions defeated in an attempt to steal them. Tools, cash and clothing were stolen from the vehicles and garages.

Police say that an apartment complex on Dalhousie Drive was broken into on nine different occasions. Mail containing credit and debit cards and cheques were stolen. The credit and bank cards were used to make a number of purchases. Damages to the building due to the repeated break-ins cost about $80,000.

Police say all the break-ins occured in the south Pembina area at the following locations:

  • the first one hundred block of Dalhousie Drive
  • the first one hundred block of Allendale Drive
  • the first one hundred block of Briarcliff Bay South
  • the first hundred block of Briarlynn Road
  • the one hundred block of Briarlynn Road
  • the 200 block of Dalhousie Drive
  • the 1700 block of Pembina Highway
  • the 3000 block of Pembina Highway
  • the one hundred block of Baylor Avenue
  • the one hundred block of Craigmohr Drive
  • the first one hundred block of Dedrick Bay
  • the 100 block of McKellar Drive
  • the first one hundred block of Newdale Avenue

Kinelsha Jawbone has been charged for her alleged involvement with 69 break-enter and theft-related offences.

She was detained in custody.
