Suspect on the run for two years captured by police dog

Manitoba First Nations Police Service are praising the efforts of ‘CETO’ a police serve dog in their K-9 Unit with the capture of a wanted suspect.

Around 1:00 am on Sunday, October 6, 2019 police learned that a 32-year-old man who had been on the run for more than two years was at a local Waywayseecappo home.

As officers approached the residence a number of people from inside the home fled including the suspect who escaped out a basement window.

PSD Ceto quickly found the suspects sent and tracked him about 200 metres through tall grass. As the dog approached the victim surrendered to officers.

Gary Shingoose from Waywayseecappo First Nation will appear in court for:

  • Aggravated Assault x 2 
  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm x 2 
  • Assault with Weapon x2 
  • Break & Enter Residence to Commit x1 
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking x 6 
  • Fail to Appear in Court x 1 
  • Fail to Comply – Sex Offender Information Registry Act x1 
  • Fail to Comply with Probation x4 Utter threats x1 
  • Mischief Under $5000 x1 
  • Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public x2
