Police get tip, discover drug lab in apartment building

On Thursday, December 21, 2017, Winnipeg Police received a tip that a possible drug lab had been set up in a building in the 300 block of Kennedy Street.

Police responded to the building and found what did appear to be a clandestine drug lab in a vacant apartment. Inside the apartment, they found equipment and a large number of chemicals that indicated that the lab may have been used to make methamphetamine.

Officers called in the WPS Clandestine Lab Team who worked with the Fire Service’s Hazmat Units to dismantle the lab because of the inherent dangers of potential fire, explosion and the presence of toxic chemicals.

It took the response teams most of the day but they were able to safely take the lab apart and out of the building.

Investigators are continuing to looking into the case but have said no arrests have been made at this time.
