Police disarm man holding shotgun during a domestic issue

Police disarm man holding shotgun during a domestic incident at a home in the first 100 block of Kinver Avenue on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

Officers were called to the home after receiving a report of family trouble. Once police were given entry to the home an adult male came out of a room with one arm behind his back. As the man walked into the room he revealed a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun and held it at his side.

As the man brandished the weapon towards them the officers were able to quickly disarm and place the suspect in custody. As officers were securing the gun they found it was loaded with one round of ammunition in the chamber.

A search of the suspect uncovered two 12-gauge shells, a folding knife, a collapsible baton and about 4 grams of meth.

The 29-year-old male suspect was charged for his alleged involvement with Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition, Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, two counts of Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order, Possession of a Weapon and Possession of Scheduled Substance – Methamphetamine.

Hewas detained in custody.
