Winnipeg Police Service say that three police cruisers were rammed by suspects attempting to flee from police on Monday, November 9, 2020.
Around 2:30pm officers spotted a vehicle near Powers Street and Stella Avenue that had been reported stolen sometime between October 29-30 from the West Alexander area.
As police were following the vehicle the driver began driving erratically and started to speed. The officers stopped following the vehicle but other units in the area converged in an attempt to contain it.
The driver of the stolen vehicle rammed two police patrol units as they continued to try to evade officers near Salter Street and Magnus Avenue. Police were able to stop the stolen vehicle and two female were taken into custody.
35-year-old Pamela Dawn Gladue from Winnipeg has been charged for her alleged involvement with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
- Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited by Order Under Criminal Code
- Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment
- Mischief Over $5,000
- Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon (x4)
She was also processed on two outstanding warrants and detained in custody.
The passenger was released without charges.
Later in the day officers located a stolen truck near Main Street and Selkirk Avenue.
Police say that around 8:45 pm they attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver rammed into a police cruiser. An officer was forced to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. The truck the jumped over the median and sped through oncoming traffic.
The suspect vehicle continued along Selkirk Avenue where it collided with three other vehicles near Salter Street. The occupants fled the truck on foot in an attempt to avoid capture.
A K-9 unit tracked one of the suspects to the 500 block of Prichard Avenue. He was captured after trying to hide in a garbage dumpster.
Police say the truck had been stolen earlier in the day from the Rosser area.
22-year-old Carlos Cloys Young has been charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Dangerous Operating of a Conveyance
- Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
- Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Drive without a licence or with an invalid licence (Highway Traffic Act)
- Driver Fail to Exchange Particulars – To Driver (Highway Traffic Act, x4)
- Drive carelessly (Highway Traffic Act)
He was detained in custody.
