In an extensive operation targeting drug trafficking, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Guns & Gangs Unit has identified and apprehended multiple suspects, seizing significant quantities of illegal substances and firearms.
The investigation, which commenced in November 2024, culminated in a series of dramatic events on December 11, 2024. At approximately 8:30 a.m., investigators observed two suspects in a 2004 Jeep Compass at a storage locker on Notre Dame Avenue. When police attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled, leading to collisions with several vehicles, including a school bus. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The abandoned Jeep was later found in a parking lot on St. James Street, where investigators seized 13.3 grams of fentanyl. Shortly thereafter, at 10:22 a.m., a 42-year-old male was apprehended on Spence Street with significant quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, illegal cigarettes, and drug paraphernalia.
A coordinated effort involving the Tactical Support Team and North District Community Support Unit led to search warrants executed at the storage locker and the Spence Street residence. The police seized a .22LR calibre rifle, various drugs with an estimated street value exceeding $219,000, and stolen musical instruments.
Two individuals, Cory KOZMENSKI, 47, and Kevan ANDERSON, 41, have been identified and warrants have been issued for their arrest. Both are considered armed and dangerous. Additionally, four other individuals from Winnipeg have been charged with offences including drug trafficking and possession of stolen property. All have been released on undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code.
The police urge anyone with information on the suspects’ whereabouts to call 911 and advise the public not to approach them. For those who may have been affected by the collisions, reports can be made online or by calling the police non-emergency line a t (204) 986-6222.
