Week two of the Holiday Checkstop programs around the province has resulted in 32 people arrested for impaired driving.

The RCMP conducted 70 checkstops and checked about 3530 vehicles between December 10-6, 2018.

18 people were charged with being impaired by alcohol and five for refusing to take a breath test.

Officers say that one person had nearly four times the legal limit of alcohol in their system when they were arrested for driving impaired.

Eight people also received tiered suspensions related to alcohol and 17 others were charged for improper storage of alcohol or cannabis in a vehicle.

Winnipeg Police stopped 2106 vehicles between December 8 and December 14, 2018.

Officers administered 69 roadside breath tests that resulted in 12 warnings and one fail.

14 people were arrested on impaired driving charges including one person who was impaired by drugs.

Police in Winnipeg also made five criminal arrests that were not related to driving offences during their Festive Checkstop.

50 Provincial offence tickets were also issued.

RCMP say that during one of their checkstops on Highway 12 in Steinbach a driver they had stopped could not provide vehicle registration. Police learned that the vehicle was stolen.

A search resulted in police finding counterfeit cash, break-in tools and drug paraphernalia.

38-year-old Cory Couture from Winnipeg was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement with Identity Fraud, Possession of Property Over $5000, Possession of Property Under $5000, Possession of Counterfeit Currency and Possession of Break-In Instruments.

The investigation continues

Checkstops will be out across Manitoba until New Years Day.
